Just look at this video it speaks for itself ( cheapest lg e-ips panel vs tn ) :
Not only tn fails in color accuracy ( guy compares it to his camera ),viewing angles, contrast it also fails in brightness just look at the end of the video at 3:10

Couple of more pics from another youtube videos : dell u2410 is ips, other 2 are tn's...

Lets get people to stop cheaping out on their PSUs first and then worry about the monitors. I love it when I see a $350 GPU plugged into a $30 PSU.

Yeah. Let's watch compressed youtube videos on our own subjective monitors (which may or may not be TN panels) so we can see the differences between TN and IPS.

Failure.

Anyhow. I understand how people want eyefinity or surround over IPS, since both have benefits. But I do not understand people who spend 1000 dollars or more on GPUs, yet use a crappy panel. On that, I agree with you. It's absolutely idiotic to do that. What's use maxing your graphics if you view them through a mediocre display? Fighting against your own goals there. Some different budgeting I coudl understand, such as 1500 dollars of audio gear with a 100 dollar display. But not what these people do.
Well, you upgrade as money allows. I just got 2 GTX 580 Lightnings and will be running them on my "crappy" Syncmaster 27" TN panel.....for now. But I intend to go with either a 30" IPS or 3 24" screens in Surround when I get some more money and then the 580's will make more sense.

The problem is each upgrade relies on the other and most people can't afford to buy it all at once so naturally there will be head-scratching combinations in people's rigs sometimes but it doesn't necessarily mean they are idiots. You just can't see the finished product yet....

There are some nicer TN panels, and for gaming it doesn't really matter. They set them up and only sit in the center, so colors look fine.

Plus they're cheaper.

(i use IPS panels and have an eyefinity setup)

I have a feeling the original poster is about 16 years old, just learned about IPS panels yesterday, and wanted to create a thread to make everyone think he is very educated. Am I close?

I love my 35€ GDM-F520 so much more than my 2x 250€ TN LCD monitors.

I got good for cheap.
