Why do people setup surround/eyefinity,sli or crossfire cards, yet use crappy tn panel - Page 10

I love hearing the words "crappy tn panel" .. I have one, and LOVE it.
I often have people ask me at lans why my color, etc looks so good.. ( Nvidia, Digital Vibrance is a big part )
Call it what you will. But its sure not crappy.

I said that. It was just an example, and it is my opinion, obviously.

It will look better in a way, and worse in a way.

Since I never cared much about AA, I'd obviously choose the higher quality monitor, since it would make the game look better in the ways I like.

As for your EIZO comment, while these are top notch monitors, they are overpriced. I already commented that in 23-24 size range, better quality monitors are almost the same price as TN monitors. There is NO reason to buy a TN monitor in this price range, unless you use 3d, even if you dont have sli / crossfire or multiple displays.

The most expansive TN monitors that support 3d might actually be more expansive then a normal ips or pva monitor
I don't use 3d I've never liked it that much. I have it purely for 120hz, it makes games feel so much smoother. That's another reason to buy tn. The difference is minute IMO. and as nice as it would be to have an ips, I can't justify the price and the slow response time, the 120hz makes games like CSS and cod feel so buttery

Mainly this thread was not directed at you. It was directed at people with low quality TN monitors, not higher end ones like 120hz ones.

Don't get me wrong though. The colour is very sexy. Though getting home and using 120hz even in simple things such as modelling in Maya and rotating the camera, it just makes things feel smooth

I should know. My monitor is 120hz, and more. At 1600x1200 110hz, it already looks smoother than any LCD at 120hz because of no ghosting. It can reach 170hz at 1024x768, which is nice for things like quake.

The tech of a CRT also puts more strain on the eyes in how it refreshes, it's 5x as big, and 5x as heavy.

Oh, and it's 4:3.

Face it, not everyone wants your monitors (most don't?).

So? That was not the point of my post there. My post indicated agreement on that 120hz = Good

I appreciate the quality of my monitor the most of my three monitors, so I use it as a main and the side ones are 24" LCDs. Problem?

THe sony FW900 is 16:10 @ 2304x1440. If you're looking for a monitor that is best suited for every kind of gaming, you should look no further. It's just impossible for me to acquire one, living in finland. 4:3 does fine for me. I appreciate the image quality more than the amount of FOV I have.

It's pretty much literally impossible for me to see the flicker at 85hz. It's easier on the eyes than my LCDs, since both have dithering (like almost all TN panels) and the other has very slight backlight flicker. What about that eye strain again?

Size and weight are no issue to me

Besides, you just went completely off topic and replied in a way that related in no way whatsoever to what I said, so....

EDIT: Oh, and your resolution is 1920x1080. I could pick on that but whatever.

OMG, why can't people just buy what they want without being made fun of by elitists? What if you just enjoy benchmarking? Two 580's in sli work just as good in 3dmark 11 with a tn panel as with ips....

No..? It's just an awkwardly formatted question that's being asked here. It does not say you HAVE to buy an IPS display. It just suggests it.
