I had the c300... It was awesome, even on SATA II! I didn't even see the blue windows welcome screen.

great choice! enjoy! it's definitely one of the best drives of last gen (this gen is still brand new and a bit buggy, so don't fret over getting a "last gen" drive. last gen just means stable.

yes, you'll need a sata cable. it may not come with the drive.

oh! also, it's 2.5". i don't know if it comes with a mounting converter or not, so you may need one in order to mount a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" slot.

as for the sata cable, well, my vertex 2 didn't come with one. in fact, no HDD i've ever purchased has come with one. =) so yeah, you'll need one. =) try to get a SATA 3 cable, that should be backwards compatible with sata 2.

you'll have to search on the web for windows 7 optimizations for SSD.

Get one, I have 4 of them and my laptop has it in RAID mode. Just in boot up is worth it alone.

I've only bought retail Wester Digital HDD and they come with a blue sata cable

Ill order this one. it gets the job done.

Is there a difference in sata 3 cables?? Anyone wanna link me a good one from newegg to order with the mount?

All those other 'tweaks' I've never done and haven't noticed anything without doing them.
Do a clean install, but set the controller to RAID. It's just like AHCI for a single drive. This allows you to add storage drives in RAID1 or something similar in the future.
