Are you OC'd? Could just be an unstable OC...
No I am affraid you got it wrong. When nvidia driver detects the occt of furmark,it will slow the card not change it voltages.
If you are getting errors,it has nothing to do with power limiter. It probably means your card is unstable for some reason...try lowering the core/shader a bit and see if you get the errors then..what psu you have ? 580 needs pretty juicy psu with atleast 42a on 12v rails ( and no you can't just add them up together if you have multiple 12v rails..you have to find exact specifications which lists COMBINED 12v amperage or wattage )
If you need to return the card,I would still do it,there is a good chance they will honor your warranty even without a sticker.

Wow that really sucks that you took the sticker off, like really bad. That's not how the OCP (overcurrent protection) works, what it will do is lower your clock briefly so that you are drawing much less power than full load, then raise them back up, then back down, and by doing that it will try and make the average power draw be whatever the limiter is set to. So that alone should not be causing errors in OCCT. Are you experiencing problems in other programs like games? If so then I don't really know what to tell you, you can try to raise the voltage at stock clocks until you don't have artifacts in games or lower the clocks or both to try and salvage the situation you're in but if the card is borked then even that might not help. I would stay away from OCCT and furmark on a 500 that has OCP, I find Unigine heaven to be a pretty good indicator of game like stability. Lesson learned for the future that first of all the warranty sticker is there for a reason (THE WARRANTY!) and secondly don't make any changes to the card right out of the box, install it and use it for a while to see if any issues crop up before doing ANYTHING to it.

Ouch on the voiding warranty sticker part. Guess your only choice now would be to overvolt and stabilize the card. I would recommend just overclocking the crap out of it, which is exactly what the card was designed to do. I'd feel safe using 1.2v on that thing too because of the VRM quantity. Does anyone know if these cards have good VRM cooling?

Yea fairly good but not great, mine didn't break about 64 when I was at 150mV overvolt and don't go much above 59 with my 81mV. The VRM cooling is just a big unisink so it's not much better than the reference design actually but the "coppermos VRMs" help IMO. you can see a little about the coppermos on MSI website but basically the VRMs have little copper heatspeaders (like on CPU or GPU cores) on the top and bottom of them, an excellent idea IMO.

Well then just play some games instead of OCCT Seriously though OCCT isn't useful in the first place for 500 cards that have OCP enabled, try Unigne heaven and games, if you have problems in those then do what I mentioned: raise the voltages; lower the clocks; or both. Good Luck.

I have same problem with my GTX 470 it always do errors in programs with error checkers such as OCCT, EVGA Scanner & even the old ATI Tools.
I get also some minimal (barely noticable) artifacts while gaming.
I ended raising the VID to get the card stable. and moded the cards bios with a higher VID to let the card always operate using it in P00 Profile (Performance 3D Mode) .
And I didn't have any problems with the card since then.
