Need advice with better hardware / gpu

Hi there,
I need a little advice on Hardware, current hardware I got on my PC:
• System: MSi (American Megatrends BIOS)
• Motherboard: MSI G41M4 Socket 775
• OS : Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
• Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 3.00 GHz OCed Stock cooling
• Resolution : 1920x1080x32
• Memory : 4 GB-RAM DDR2
• HDD : 300 GB
• Graphics : ATI Radeon HD5450 1024MB GDDR 3
• DirectX : Version 11
Now, i am not pleasant with the system's performance at all, especially at games that are not so new like Far Cry 2, and a few more. Actually the advice I need is what to upgrade to.
Plan I had in mind already:
Upgrade to Core 2 Quad Q9550 and buy the best GPU that can be used on my motherboard (yes, the best, which is definitley not the HD 57xx series since theyre WAY too big. like a huge metal plate.) the advice i need is this: What is best GPU I should buy to get the maximum off games like ArmA 2, Far Cry 2, or any other modern game ?
Is it possible to even get some decent GPU to run the games stated above that will actually fit the motherboard ? (i thought to save a few bucks and not waste it all on a brand new motherboard)
What CPU is best for me ? I've heard people that say that I should get Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz as its better than wasting alot of money on Q9550 and i should invest the money that will remain off the E8400 (that money that wouldnt have been wasted) to buy a higher end video card. So far I got no plans on selling my house just to buy i7. I just want a decent video gaming computer.

560Ti, and a better CPU cooler first. Thatll let you increase your OC and remove that horrible bottle neck from your HTPC GPU.
then if you really need it, I would grab the 9550, E8400 or do a platform upgrade to SB or BD

If you stick with the 775 platform go big with the 9550, youll appreciate the extra cores in the long run

Seriously ? But as of right now CPU load is always 100% according to resource manager, while the memory is like 3.5 GB used while im playing an immersive game (arma 2 operation arrowhead to be much more specific. running it on medium - low due to huge fps lost beacuse of things like AA that ive recently set to disable.) I think my CPU is a problem by itself already, not only my GPU. also I didnt understand what you meant at "remove that horrible bottle neck from your HTPC GPU" what is HTPC ? sorry for this question. also what is SB/BD ? im no big computer expert, just know a little about hardware and overclocking cpu's.

You can increase your Oc with a better CPU cooler.

Your GPU is meant for Home Theater Personal Computers, not Gaming
especially not at 1080p with AA

Sandy Bridge = SB (i5 2500k and i7 2600k)
Bulldozer = BD (currently on hold until september)
right now I would be shocked if just a GPU upgrade didnt make you much happier. especially if you upped the CPU OC.

So, If ill get lets say water cooling (thats better than air, right?) and OC the cpu to lets say 3.40 GHz (I dont wanna straight dive into 3.80 GHz or something else that crazy, i think it will start emiting smoke somewhere at 3.45 ~ 3.60) but even then, its only 2 cores. 2 x 3.40 = overall 6.8 GHz, i thought if ill get a quad core the value will be x4 higher meaning better performance (beacuse everything will be spread across 4 cores, which should take the load off from only 2 cores)

good air cooling will be fine (a $30 hyper 212+ will be fine) to get a higher OC

your (2 x core speed) isnt exactly how it works due to scaling.

while a quad core will spread processes across 4 cores it would be cheaper to OC your current processor and get a better GPU until you are ready for a platform upgrade (core 2 series is getting old).

That my $0.02 we can see what other have to say though
