This is getting ridiculous.
All Nintendo has stated is that it will have a 45nm R700 GPU. They did not at any point in time specify an RV770XT or HD4870.
They have stated that it will be 50% faster than the Xbox 360 or PS3. If we apply that to the GPU, we see that an HD4870 1GB is 100-200% faster than a 7800GT (used in the PS3). If Nintendo could have claimed 100%+ faster, they would have.
What's 50% faster than a 7800GT? An HD4600 series GPU or an HD4730. Something in the neighborhood of an Nvidia 9600GT or 8800GS.*
Expect a modified 45nm die shrink of the RV730 (HD4650/HD4670) with a small amount of integrated eDRAM and 512-1024MB of VRAM. Performance should be on par to a 9600GT or 9800GT at most.*
It will NOT have an HD4870.
*Using Nvidia cards because most people are familiar with the performance of the GeForce 8 and 9 series cards.
