Well.. I guess I'm sticking to the 965 BE.. Looks cool..!
I have a mobile A/C using a tube which I'm gonna use for some extreme overclocking and testing. On my current rig it dropped my temps down to 20 degrees idle and 32 full load! Once I find the max overclock value on A/C, I wish I get 4GHz stable on my current cooler.. That would be awesome! Wish me luck guys! :-)

I just got a case for my new build with a 955, and haven't had any problems overclocking on it. I did prime95 overnight at 4167 mhz with stock cpu cooler, temps never exceeded 53C. My case does have fantastic cooling though, Inwin Dragon Rider, 240mm (I think) side fan intake, 1 rear exhaust behind cpu 2 top exhaust above cpu and 1 right side panel fan cooling through the cooler mounting bracket to the backside of the mobo/cpu socket, all 120mm. I'm kind of hoping I hit a temp wall before I hit a stability wall, as I want justification for getting the watercooling going.

I got it! I got the 965 BE.. It's finally in my hands. Will install it on my pc this Tuesday.
I'll get the new thermal paste I've ordered tomorrow.
It's a XILENCE ZUB-XPTP.X5 X5, this one. After comparing its specs with other thermal pastes, I think that's a good choice for extreme overclocking. Tell me your thoughts.

Oh, btw I've got 2 questions..

1. Switching to this CPU will need a new fresh windows 7 install or will it recognize the new CPU as new hardware and install it as it is? (Sorry, I can't really remember this from my previous CPU upgrade..)

2. I need to upgrade my mobo's BIOS. According to ASUS the BIOS version that supports this specific 965 BE is the 1309. But the latest BIOS version currently available for my mobo is 1801. Shouldn't I install the latest one (1801)? I mean newer is better, isn't it?

I can't wait to get my hands on overclocking and benchmarking this processor..

1) Uninstall the current CPU from device manager before you shut down and change

2) Update the BIOS to the latest version before messing with hardware.

That said, my 955BE can do 4.2GHz
