Enabling SLI causes Black screen!! gtx 580 sli - Page 2

OK - so actually which exact PSU do you have? as even 2 PSUs delivering half of their rated 550 and 750 may not be enough for the 2 cards together!

one is a Coolermaster gx 750 watt, running motherboard, running 21 pins on the cards, the other one is an LC power 550 watt, running my 3 pumps, fans and 8 pins of one of the cards.

Well, my old friend sold it to me for 50$ a couple years back when they were worth about triple that so I couldn't refuse. The fan was faulty on it and it loaded at 120, idled at 90. Fixed it with an a/m cooler It hasn't disappointed me since, even after the 6 month temperature abuse.

By the way, the four series have not had any driver issues for years now. I encounter no such things. You should be good to go!

Well
According to this review
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/artic...-Review/917/10,
your GX750W is recommended up to 450W after that it can get noisy and LC Power 550W seems to be of low output also so i have to say that I don’t think you have enough power to run both cards simultaneously.

Can you try it with a solid 750 or 850W PSU, from someone like Seasonic?

hmm .. i don't have any other power supplies, and not really the cash to buy a new high end one. doh. Funny thing is though, that when i try older drivers like the 266.53, i cant even choose sli in the control panel. It only says "configure physx" .. Lol ive always been fond of nvidia, but i dont know anymore :S

266.53? were they beta drivers? If so i guess you could of had an issue with the beta! 266.58 were official as far as i know.

Anyway, i suggest you see if a friend has a PSU that you can check with.

And of course it is always worth double checking your SLI bridge and cards are seated correctly.

Other than this I am out of ideas!

Ugh buying two different vendors to SLi. I had problems before with stuff like that, cards can simply just not like each other. A black screen means something with the display of the cards, make sure all the pins are correctly installed on each card and that the power supply is sufficient.

I have discovered a very sad thing .. its seems that its one of my cards that is insanely unstable ! I cannot even open op WOWs log in screen, without the driver resetting .. I dont know how this has happened. There is no warranty on the card, because i bought it slightly used .. Stupid idea i guess. Maybe the fella cheated me i dont know ..

Maybe the oven method can help me here? It might also just be completely dead ..
