SLI or Upgrade

Thread Starter
At this point in the game- Do you guys think its worth adding another 470 to SLI, or just upgrading to the 500 series? or waiting a little longer for i guess the 600 series?

I have a GTX 470 that is starting to seem a little dated- Games like Witcher 2, GTA liberty City Stories, etc- I'm wanting to bump stuff up on these games, with the new drivers, but the card is seeming to have a hard time keeping up.

Thanks.

get another and go sli. I was debating on that as well but there cheap enough with decent resale value. so if your not happy and you want to sell them there not hard to sell. I now have three of them and i love them. I have yet to use the third as my rig is down for soem mods but when i went sli the scaling was awesome.... trust me coming from a guy with them its def a good choice to pick up a cheap second and run your games however you wish

I mean SLI will be cheapest and get the biggest performance increase

470 SLI will crush 1080p or 1200p..if that's what you're running go 470 SLI. It will last you a long while at that resolution.

glad everyone agrees you can always pick one up used on here for around 170. If your ok with buying used. I have purchsed all mine from ppl on here. This way you get to help out your friends and get a cheaper gpu

What do you mean dated ?

I played LCS with everything maxed (except shadows at high instead of very high) at 1080p and The Witcher 2 everything max/on (except ubersampling which kills even a GTX 580) without any issues whatsoever. Solid 45-50FPS average with a minimum of 35.

Maybe you should consider overclocking since both of those games don't make proper use of SLI.

Otherwise you could upgrade to a GTX 580 I guess but Kepler is right around the corner so it might not be worth it atm.
