To buy or not to buy?

So I am planning to buy a new rig.
ASrock X58 Extreme
i7 970
Gainward Gtx 560 ti Phantom 2gb
Cooler Master Silent Pro 700watt
WD 1tb sata 600 Black edition x2

Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 6x 4gb
Cpu cooler?

Case: Either a Haf 912, 932 or a Aerocool XPredator Evil Black Edition
I will most likely go with the Xpredator for its descent price.

Having good experience with Corsair ram I decided to buy this brand again.

But I stumbled upon a few issues with cooling, First I was planning on buying a Corsair H70, but once I read about the noise production I decided to not buy that one.

Then I thought of buying a Noctua NH-D14 or a Thermalright Silver Arrow, but both seemed to have issues with ram clearance.

Considering not taking a H70 also led me to have doubts with the spacing for a proper aircooler and the airflow in the Haf 912 which I originally chose.
The Xpredator would only cost me 30 more excl. extra fans I might install. the Haf 932 will cost me more then double.

Other then that I am left with a few issues.
Take an alternate CPU cooler, like the venomousX?
Switch to a bigtower after all?
Choose different Ram without high heatsinks?

I'd appreciate any feed back, thx in advance.

why not get a 2600k and enjoy equal performance at a lower price?

Any reason X58 over P67/Z68?
But if the RAM doesn't have super high heatsinks, I'd go with the NH-D14.
I would take the Samsung F3 1TB's instead of the WD's since they're 50$ on NewEgg right now w/ coupon.

I am pretty sure the i7 970 hexa core will offer me more peformance then the 2600k quad core.

The main thing that I am struggling with is wether to buy different Ram or an alternate CPU cooler. that and making a final decision either a big or midi tower.

clock for clock the 970 is slower... if you really need the 6c/12t over 4c/8t then i guess it's a viable option, but the 2600k is better in almost every way.. overclockability, power consumption, price, easier to cool, etc

Vengeance has extremly high heatsinks therefor the NH-D14 wont fit, nor will any other CPU cooler that is that big.

Also I currently have Samsung F3's, but I heard that the new Sata 600's will provide me more speed. Unless that is these rumors are false tongue.gif

I don't know.... The 2500K can keep up in most applications.
It only falls behind in certian applications

Here is the scores of the 2600K.

It can most certainly hold it's own.

I am planning to OC the i7 970 to roughly 4ghz, therefor granting me 12 virtual cores and quite some processing power which I could use for rendering purposes. I considered a 2600k setup but I am sure the Hexacore will provide me more processing power that I need.

generally, no. the 2600k performs better clock for clock and has higher OCing headroom

Even when overclocked?
