After all its main purpose is to process fast and if it does at 100% load. Also I will be using that 24gb RAM which I cannot use with the 2600k since this is dual channel compared to tri channel on the i7 series. Will this make a noticeable difference?

edit: Considering that I am capable of drinking all this ram
If you are rendering 4K HD-Video, or using high end Auto CAD software
then 12 threads will be useful to you.

Wether I am rendering @ 4k or at plain 720p I will be using 100% load.

That said I just stumbled upon a thread specifying the usage of the 970 for rendering purposes and it seems it is a definite choice for proffessional 3d work.

Which brings me back to my main question.

Should I buy different ram without the high heatsinks. such as Kingston Hyper X and go with a NH-D14 or go for a different CPU cooler such as the venomous X - Pull setup?

I will be doing some more research on the 2600k vs 970 but till then I still need to decide on cooling setup

shorter heatsinks and NH-D14

I would suggest the new corsair h100, this also makes you able to get vengeance ram.

But really, i HIGHLY recommend you to get the 2600k, it will certainly give you a better performance overall than the 970 will, and I believe the higher clock on the 2600k will outperform the extra 4 cores available when rendering.

If the h100 is more friendly then the H70 I most likely will. But if it also produces a whopping 55db on max I might reconsider it. Never the less, since I do not often find posts on cpu's for 3d purposes it might be best for me to do some more research. Its a big purchase after all, and considering the difference in the two mobo types in a inreversable choice.
