What rad + other parts

Thread Starter
So far I've bagged myself an XSPC 750LPH with 1.5 years warranty left on it for £25 - they retail for £60 new!

I'll also need to get a radiator amongst other parts.

He's got a 120.2 going but I reckon that'll only fit in the CM 690 II with either one set of push OR pull - not both.

Do I go for a slim rad and push/pull or a thicker rad with either push or pull?

Once I've got that sorted I'll also need:

CPU Block (XPSC Rasa?)
Tubing (7/16" ID - 5/8" OD XSPC Blue/UV Blue Hose)

Anything else?

I prefer PT Nuke to a Kill Coil but either will do.

On the RAD front, Slim in push pull will be your best bet if you intend to run high speed fans (>1000RPM). If you want to run low speed (<1000RPM) fans then the XSPC RX240 would be a good one in Push mode.

You could run a GPU block as well on the 240 as long as you dont OC to much.

Water is good, yeah.
I've got some IC Diamond (Some of the Pre-Release stuff) TIM which seems pretty good.
Kill coil? What do you recommend - needs to be available in the UK.
Are compression fittings better than barbs and hose clamps?

Thanks.

Would look for the quietest option.

Is the RX240 better than the 120.2?

The 120.2 is second hand so could get a good price on it.

I dont know what PM Nuke is but SPecialTech are great at prices for water cooling things and does stock PT Nuke:

In terms of fans speeds and RADS, check ou this review. PS I know it is for 360 RADs but at least you can compare like for like differences 120.3 with a RX360 and showing different fans speeds.

At 1000rpm there is nothing between them so I suppose it's not all that bigger deal.

Also, compression fittings vs. barbs and clamps?

True, So if you can get the used 120.2 for a reasonable price and it ahs been used in a loop where it hasnt been mixed with other metals (example Cu and Al) then go for which ever one you want.

In terms of the compression fittings vs. barbs and clamps question - there is little difference rally, i would say for a first time builder the comp fittings will be easier to work out your hose lengths with but do cost more so its eally up to you. Sorry for not really answering your questions with definite answers!

I've asked him about the Al + Cu scenario.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the Res/Pump combo and rad for £50-55 shipped which seems pretty decent.

Rad comes with two compression fittings too.

EDIT: He only runs Nickel EK blocks apparently - worth the purchase?
