It's about as effective as a mid-high end air cooler. You could even drop an RX240 Rasa kit in, which costs a bit more than an H70, but will yield better temps.
Since I set my mind on the Vengeance RAM I have troubles finding a cooler that actually fits, as for the H70 it costs a whopping 90 euro's, throw replacement coolers on top of it and I'll have a full 100,- Euro's for a mere CPU cooler, which is quite expensive. I already set my mind on a stable 4.0 or 4.2 ghz, nothing too crazy So I will have to choose from either a mediocre Air cooler or replacing the vengeance with i.e Kingston X without heatsink and pop in a NH-D14/Silver Arrow

I have tried rendering at all speeds and overclocking does zero for me, Ht yes... OC no.. Besides most, if not all professional 3d artists do not overclock. That being said go with xeon.

as for the PSU its about 20,- more then the Silent Pro from Cooler master.
As for the HAF X its about 70,- more then the Xpredator (which comes with built in fan regulators I read)
and as for the mobo these are about 30-50,- more.

Now I'm not quite sure wether it is really worth the cost increase, but I'm a student after all, and I did plan on not going all in this time.

Overclocking does increase rendering speeds, it Did for me and as it did for a m8 of mine.

As for xeon, pricewise its out of my pricerange, unless a cheap 200-400 xeon peforms better then the i7 970 12 threads

I really think you should just keep your RIG and sell the 930 and the RAM and just buy the 970 and the vengance kit.

Too late for that though, already gave my word on it, unless I swap parts. and give him newly ordered stuff and keep some parts for myself. Which he most likely wouldnt mind. Its just that I have some issues with my current mobo when it comes to the bios, as every now and then it likes to just screw me over and refuse to boot no matter what.
