Going green. 590 owners needed. - Page 2

570 SLI might be a good option for you. Performance wise, it's not that far from 2 580s.

If you've got the money, 2x 580s, if you prefer to save a little more 2x 570s

I'd take ASUS over EVGA, they have a reputation for great motherboards and their DirectCU II series is among the best. In terms of overclocking it doesn't matter which one you choose. Not all EVGA or ASUS cards overclock the same way unless they're binned.
My Asus GTX 590 has been running like a champ since launch. It basically has not gotten any rest, either folding or gaming 24/7, relatively quiet as well, at least much more so than the 5870 cfx setup I had before.

I would choose the EVGA card over the Asus one though if I could, but if you can't it's not a biggie. Basically what you get with EVGA is a full backplate that might cool the VRAM a bit better and a 28mHz higher stock clock.

The problem with Asus cards was that Asus allowed 1.2v to be put through them unlike other AIBs. But even then we don't even have proof of many cards going up in smoke, only a handful. Even overclocking is possible and safe as long as your cooling is in check. The problem now are driver restrictions that prevent you from going beyond a certain point.

All in all I've been happy with my purchase. I think the 590 is considered to be a bad card not because it actually is bad but because the sweclockers video was blown out of proportion and certain people decided to jump to conclusions and be loudmouths.

I won't deny that the card could have a better VRM design but it's not like it explodes if you try to use it or even OC it.

GL with your purchase!

E: and oh, if you have more questions you're welcome to ask other 590 owners in the club. Link can be found in my sig.

Lmao nice Is a bit of irony isn't it?

Anyways I think I'm going to chance it and pick up the Asus card, I've come to the conclusion if I do have any issues I can just send it back and wait patiently on the EVGA version or grab a 580 and still destroy games. Thanks everyone I will let you know how it goes.
