honestly? i don't know...i would like to see it done, i think it would be a fine addition to the arsenal of DE's if ever smoothed over properly.

I liked Unity in some respects it has nice candy for sure...

The main thing that killed it for me was turning the Applications finding into a search result.

I detest that sidebar thing & that's mainly because I'm so accustomed to Gnome & Windows...

There were actually quite a few bugs I ran into as well, but I won't go there...

I'll stick behind my recommendation, go back to Gnome, Unity will frustrate you!

I just looked at 11.04 another time....couldn't stand it.

Now Lubuntu 11.04 is fine, LXDE is fine, Mint 11 is fine, but Ubuntu has way dropped the ball on this one.

So it looks like 10.10 is the end of the Ubuntu line for me. (Breaks out the Unity flyswatter...SMACK....you're dead)

It looks cool, and works a lot like Gnome 3 in some respects. But in my heart, it could never replace something as simple as Gnome 2 or openbox.

So I gave up... Needless to say, Unity offers very little in the way of Networking. Though you can downloads some software, most of it is worthless!
1. Open Nautilus
2. Click "Network"
3. All Shared Windows PCs/Samba Servers in the Network appear

It's exactly the same on Windows except it's Explorer instead of Nautilus.

I'm thinking that this OS supports browser spying, because the Desktop may have been setup as a web page! I could be wrong of course, but something tells me (instinctively) that there is something seriously fishy about the setup of Unity in Ubuntu! (I'm not saying any of this is true, but it sure does look extremely suspicious and should be investigated fully by the users, so beware!)
Honestly, I don't have a freakin' clue what you were trying to say here.

I probably won't try it unless I install it new on something, and I'm thinking about leaving Ubuntu. I just don't like that they don't offer support for anything but their LTS versions, and the 6 months release cycle presents just too much to upgrade and change at any one time. I like the rolling-updates strategy that Arch uses.

For now I just use 8.04.3 and 9.04 and if I can't find something in the repositories I just compile it from source. Since 9.04 isn't LTS though, the repositories sometimes get dropped and I have to find mirrors. The only other annoyance with doing it this way is if for some reason the software you need requires a newer version of gcc, because that's a real hard thing to update without messing with the rest of the installation.

In any case, yeah, I'm still stuck on 8.04, but it doesn't look quite like 8.04 except for my gcc version. So yeah I probably will be moving on to a different distribution ( maybe Arch, rolling updates looks nice ) before trying 11.4

Go with Arch and you won't look back.

arch? :/ id suggest debian, no reason to run unstable outdated ubuntu that doesnt even get security patches anymore...

and i really cant suggest arch to anyone, i know tons of people love it but i just can not agree with a lot of the really weird philosophy choices the maintainers have
