The RPG Conundrum

Thread Starter
Well, here it is again. TW2 presents me with all these decisions on upgrading, crafting, selling, hording, etc. I find myself pining over making sure I got the best armour, weapons, potions, spells and it really drives me bonkers at time. How about you?

1. I spend very little time comtemplating upgrades; if it initially looks good I'll do it.
2. I'll spend a few minutes looking things over carefully to make sure I'm making the right decision.
3. I must know every facet of every upgrade, to the point of spending time out of the game reseaching them.
4. For me it's easy: follow what the strategy guides recommend.
5. I don't bother with this RPG silliness.

CRUD...I messed up making this a poll...

2.

For a RPG (non-mmo) I'm playing for the story. I'll pick out the best gear available to me at the time or find upgrades if I need them to progress.
AMD, I give up.

3. It's just too tempting and inviting to go online and check "the best build".. However I try to alternate between those options. I guess it depends on what experience the developers are going for. I'm alright with whatever a game is trying to be as long as it's well designed, sadly more often than not it isn't. Oblivion is a good example: there's lots of stuff to read and learn about it's leveling system, sure, but it's a ****ty one. That's why I'd rather not care about it at all and just tune the difficulty down and enjoy the better things that it has to offer.

I usually like it when it's like Fable TLC: whatever I do will work. It doesn't have to be as "simple" as Fable, it can be complicated and still work.

When I first start out with a game i'm definitely 2 all the way, but eventually I get intrigued and can end up falling into 3 as well... It makes a game consume more time than it should but oh well, lol

7. I wing it, only to find out at the end of the game that my guy sucks and I can't beat the final boss!
