Im building a new computer mainly for BF3 but also because its just been a while since I've built one. Heres what I have so far, only thing already purchased is the i7. Not sure on the power supply yet or if i should go with an SSD as well. Open to opinions especially on the video card. Im trying to keep everything around $1000.

Intel Core i7-2600K

ASUS P8P67 PRO

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB

MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB

Corsair Obsidian Series 650D

If you want something that is better $ for $ go with something such as an AMD 6950, 4GB of memory and a 1TB Samsung F2 drive - if you could return the 2600k and grab a 2500k it would save you $100 and be just as good for gaming.

For that rig you would be best of getting a Corsair hx750 and as of ssd you should get one for max performance will help for boot up times and will help if you install bf3 onto it

To save a little bit of money get a gtx 460

Its been a toss up between the 560 ti and the 6950. It seems more people are recommending the 6950. Guess ill add an ssd on too. Definitely not returning the i7 considering I got it cheaper than a 2500k thanks to Intel retail edge.

Your build looks good, but here are some suggestions to make it better.

This ram is on sale for the same price and is better.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...bles-_-na-_-na

Also the Samsung F3 1tb HDD is on sale for 50$, and has similar performance of the drive you picked.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=samsung%20f3

Also, the 650D is not the best for AIR cooling, it is great for water but air not so much.
You could get something cheaper for air such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119197
Corsair also has a budget case line that is out but not readily available, you may want to run ceaseless for a bit.

The problem with the 6950 Is yes its a good card and I mean no disrespect or looking to troll e.c.t, but their drivers are not up to par few people i know who have 69xx cards have constant problems with drivers and have to go into safe mode to recover them its up to you because they are similar in specs
post #7 of 12
I'm currently using the 6950 and quite happy with it...and you can flash your card bios to unlock the extra performance..

HDD: Samsung F3 1TB

CASE+PSU Combos:
Obsidian + 650HX
Obsidian + TX650
Obsidian + 750HX
Obsidian + TX750

MOBO +RAM Combos:
P8P67 Pro + 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866
P8P67 Pro + 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600

The GPU you chose is fine, but with further savings, the 2GB Radeon 6950 is a decent choice too. Not all 2GB Radeon 6950 unlock however...a lot of the newer ones with the fan in the middle don't come with a dual-BIOS switch which makes flashing the card a risk. Look deeper into this if you're planning to unlock. The older designs with the fan at the end and dual-BIOS switch were a safe breeze to unlock. Regardless, the performance difference was about 5-10%. You can get the Twin Frozr of this card and just ovreclock it to get the same results.
