GTX 560 ti vs HD 6950

Ok so price wise these two cards(the 1gb version of the 6950) i see that the 6950 is pretty much better in every way, however I'm kinda leanin over to the gtx 560 ti because of lower temps and lower noise and OC ability. I was really wondering how well does the 6950 OC?

Not too badly at all. You can probably hit 950mhzon the core, and around 1400mhz on the RAM. As far as the temps go, what cooling option are you looking into? No arguing though the 560ti is a great card and at 1080 resolution you will notice little difference either way.

Depends on what card you get. Some will oc well and some not so good. They can get a little loud In xfire. Honestly, if your case has good irflow and you're not cross firing the 6950, it doesn't get too bad.

Well for my new rig i'll have the haf 922, and I was thinking of either the twin frozr II 560 ti, or just the stock hd 6950.

With just the one card either will be fine. The haf 922 has good airflow so you will be alright. If your looking for more help link us some of the models individually that you are looking at getting. thumb.gif

thx, +rep all
here are the models, i'm leanin towards the 2gb version to be more future proof, but i'm sure this model won't unlock, if someone could confirm this that'd be great

It's the non reference one and the PCB is about an inch shorter it seems? Ergo no dual bios and probably no unlock. I certainly don't recommend trying lol.

If you plan on doing Xfire, the 6950 scaling is unbelievable. 2x 6950's is basically double the performance of 1x 6950! If it is not reference design, it most likely won;t unlock so I wouldn't try it.

The main benefit of the GTX 560 Ti is that it can overclock effortlessly to 950Mhz+ core while maintaining low heat and low noise. The only drawbacks are that they don't scale in SLI as well as the 6950 and when overclocked the GTX 560 Ti draws a lot more power than the 6950.

The 560ti's overclock more than the hd6950 in general. It depends on the card, but they should be close in speed with their max overclocks. The hd6950 will use less power though. Between the msi and the his, the msi would likely be much quieter.
