On a budget wanna upgrade from q6600 - Page 2

Honestly you're going too have too spend 2 bills on a cpu too upgrade that cpu.

Yeah you can get an i5 760 for 150 bucks but the thing is,it isn't much more too just buy sandy bridge. It just doesn't make sense too invest in any other platform.

Is your music product software multithreaded?

Does it max out all 4 of your cores now, or does it give about 50% cpu usage?

Can you over clock? If you can this is VERY EASY.

Mother board
Gigabyte Intel H55 LGA1156 2x1.5V DDR3 DIMM/1xPCI-E x16 GB/6xSATA MATX Motherboard GA-H55M-S2V

240 Over might aswell get a new computer
Surely socket 1156 is on its way out now with Sandy Bridge?

I would go with a SB motherboard, an the new i3 2100 CPU which is under $100 I believe. Performs a lot better than the top end Core 2 Duo's etc.

Youre looking looking at 400 or so for new motherboard, 4 gb of ddr3, and 2500k.

Anything else is either a waste of money or a downgrade
