Xigmatek s1283 Dual Fan Mod (with picture)

I've been a tad disappointed with this cooler since I bought it a couple of weeks ago.. the included brackets only gave me the option of mounting it vertically, the fan that came with it doesnt work very well, and it didnt improve my temperatures that much.. Though I realized the temp issues were because the base wasnt properly aligned with the cpu heat spreader..
anyways, the part you were wondering about
Stock 36/60
One Fan 26/51
2 Fans 28/ 45

has anyone else done this with this cooler before?

Ya the stock fan on these is not that good.
I tried two fans on mine but it made a horrid buzzing noise.
I have one CM R4 blue on mine now and have yet to break 45c with the 955.
You may get better temps by removing the second fan and putting it in the top of your case as exhaust.

Good luck

ok, so I'm not insane then...
the heck is up with that sound? it acts like the top fan is vibrating, so I redid it and put rubber bands between both fans and the heat sink, but it still does it
Did you ever find a fix for it?
I fixed it by going back to one fan

it's the fins vibrating.

Does your case close with that cooler on? I have the same case and was thinking of getting that cooler but not sure if that cooler is too big for the case, thnx.

I had xigmatek dark knight which i bought another fan, same as the one that the dark knight came with. I thought mine worked very well on an OC'd 4ghz c2d. Try changing fans. I'm not sure putting it horizontally will give dramatic changed

Its the fins vibrating that is causing the noise, I fixed it on mines by adding a line of hotglue along the side of the heat sink.
