2600k temps -> EK Supreme -> RX360

post #1 of 5

I just bought a Case Labs M8 (awaiting delivery), I'm Ditching my water-chiller soon and bought a RX360 RAD. I'm wondering since, I live in Florida I would keep the CPU at stock speeds during the summer cause its 98F today and was wondering what temps you other users are getting for your Sandy Bridge Water-cooled at stock speeds, I'm trying to hold out for bulldozer or even Sandy Bridge-E I'm just getting parts for my 2nd build and wait to see reviews before I click the Buy It Now button.

i5 2500k @5ghz using the same EK Supreme HF Nickel with a GTX570 in the loop, I get 68c running Prime Blend tests. At 5.1ghz, 1.464v it jumps to 78c. Mild overclocks are low-mid 50's and stock is mid-high 40s in my system.

Water temps hover around 30.5c with ambient of 22-23c.

Thanks these readings are helpful cause I do actually inspire to get a 6990 to add to the loop, but I may hold out for 7000 series if ivybridge is looking great for me I'm in one of those waiting pickles, heck I could be waiting forever since everything is progressing with these new NM dies >_<

Have you seen this thread? It's the same thing you're effectively asking about (temps and configs)

SB-E? Why bother. Bulldozer? I was holding out too, but whenever it comes out, it'll be the same story as the Phenom was to C2Q... Close but no cigar, might cost less.

You certainly don't have a bad setup as it is, so there's no harm in waiting. I had to upgrade from a Core2Quad since it was bottlenecking my 6950, but with your setup you should be good for a while still.

I think a sandybridge with a 6990 should be fine, even in FL. I'm running the equivalent, a SB 2600K @ 4.3ghz with 2 6950s which should be the equivalent to a 6990.

Yeah I'm holding on to my 1090T till bulldozer or sandy bridge e and if i don't like the benches ill wait for ivybridge. What attracts me to sandy bridge is the power efficiency with so much power but I don't want to setting for anything less than 6 cores cause it seams to help a lot in blu-ray quality encoding. That's why it's a project that's gonna be on hold and I'm just looking for some temps to look forward too.

I did do a search prior to this thread creation though but couldn't find temps running stock clock speeds cause I like to keep a set of speeds in my bios like in my 1090T where I have it shut down to 4 cores for the summer to run cooler on less power for everyday tasks.
