The reason that programmers like consoles is that they have only one system to test for. Allow for changes to the system and all the advantages disappear. All programs would have to be written for the unupgraded systems thus making all of the upgrades unnecessary.

Wii U is already outdated and will only shine against Old xbox360 and PS3.

People need to understand that a console can use older hardware though and still look as good as your PC that costs double or tripple because your running Windows.

After that it's going to be painfully obvious how underpowered it is.
The games might be great but that's not my argument here.
( and i'm not talking about the older Hardware compared to PC's.

Nintendo is stepping out of the gate with a Gimp because Sony and MS will be walking over Nintendo Graphically very shortly after. I'm sure the Wii-U will look great and have some stellar games but i can't help but think of 720 or ps4

Sad part is NINTENDO hasn't stepped up and actually made a more powerful or equal machine since the SNES. Although i can't discount the Gamecube because it had some bad arse games graphically but just didn't have the capacity on those mini DVD's

The Wii U will look last gen when Sony and MS start revealing their products.

Wii U is already behind the curve with slightly better graphics than PS3 and XBOX360 which is what you might consider now LAST GEN.
Don't get this confused with the actual hardware because consoles can get away with older GPU's because they aren't being bogged down by an operating system like Windows, it's basically just running the code so to speak.

R770 is a great GPU for the Wii U. It'll put out visuals unlike anything we've seen, I expect. The things they can do with consoles is pretty amazing. Check out Uncharted 2 and 3. Or WipeOut HD.

makes u wonder the more the console makers add to a consoles capabilities will that later on down the line hinder performance and optimization capabilities? Due to more running in the background. PLus how and in what way does windows bog down game performance when we all have lots of RAM, the faster GPU's, much faster CPU's and higher speed HDD's?

So? I honestly don't care what directx level a game uses as long as it's fun to play, and I doubt most WiiU customers will be any different. Hell most of them probably wouldn't even know what DirectX is!

Yeah I often think that personally i think cloud gaming will take off before bloated dashboards becomes an issue. Trust me if games were coded to the metal of PC hardware we would see maybe double the frame-rates we do atm.
