[EN] Wii U has last-gen Radeon inside, still more advanced than PS3 and Xbox 360 - Page 4

still want to say that they should have gone with a 5000 series based part for the more advanced hardware features and improved power efficiency.

6000 series would be worse on a console though(6000 series is a more simplistic design based off of the idea that it reduces the need for optimization, optimization is a must in console land)

then again, who know, maybe M$ beat Nintendo to the 5000 series... we're playing with a number of corporate entities and they all enjoy having exclusive contracts.

Neither will Sony. Direct X is just a middle man Microsoft API to allow different card vendors work on PC despite having different architectures. The common ground that Direct X delivers helps developers develop for PC without adapting to each vendor and each of their models.

With that out of the way, this thing is going to kill; there is no doubt about that. But once again Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by screwing over developers. Any third party developer that is making multiple console releases isn't going to go out of their way and make their games look better just for one system, not to mention to adapt to their control schemes. That was the problem with the Wii, nobody was going to make a quality game for the Wii because it took too much time to adapt it to their system. I can honestly see this thing bombing like the Wii via software quality and sales.

Nintendo can sweep up hardware sales like none other, but to me without the software the console is worthless to me. I know a few people that bought the Wii just because it had the gimmicky controller set up. Almost all those people haven't bought more than 5 games, if that.

Sure, my speculation can be wrong; but honestly after seeing the mistakes that Nintendo made the last few hardware releases and seeing them repeat them yet again with a higher price tag, I'll pass.
I agree with the exception of the dev comments.

The wii should have been damn easy to code for: Gamecube engine with more freedom

And i think that cross platform developers will port x360/PS3 games to the Wii U easier because of the performance cushion it has.... but will likely add unnecessary controller "enhancements" to them

At the end of the day, 1st party titles will be the bread and butter of the system.......again

Now the only question is, is it a 4830, 4850, or 4870 in the system?

And this thing better have more system ram. I demand at least 512-1GB

4890 Last Gen? Umm its 2 gens old and by time the WiiU Hits it will be 3, maybe 4 gens old. When the PS4 and Xbox 720 hit Im pretty sure they will have 570/6950 equiv which will wallop WiiU. But will also be 1 or 2 gens behind the PC. DX12 will probably release 6-12 months after as well on PC.

Not to flame or anything cause Zelda HD looked amazing, just being realistic about what the future will hold.

I agree 100% I love the Wii I just can't stand the jaggies, they hurt my eyes. But even the 360 and PS3 jaggies I can't stand.

For me its not about how high the graphics level is its getting decent textures with no jaggies.

sorry? its already been demoed and gives a solid 30+ fps on what is equiv to the tesselation in unigine. when you have a dedicated hardware for tesselation directly, the rest of the system doesnt really matter when the 360's cpu has no current bottleneck.

It's never been an issue if we need it or not, the fact of the matter it's there it's said to be easier to use when developing games, so I ask why aren't we using it.

Answer, the game developers don't want to,that's all.

The revolution was supposed to be a high-end console, with striking preliminary prototypes in all black.

It was supposed to come out with Mario 128, which would look as good as a PS3 game.

Then, they ditched the idea, ditched the game and name it after urine.

Enough said.

Yes, that is the foundation and trademark of a gimmick.
"A device employed to cheat, deceive, or trick, employed especially to promote a project".
If you bought it, I'd say the gimmick was indeed a fiendish success.

I'm pretty sure they will.

They have nothing else going for them, and they (for some reason) don't have a name they can ride while standing on top of only a single item.
