the wiimote works for most wii games, how is that limited?

AND ofcourse the ps move is more accurated, its also a lot newer than the wiimote is it not.
The 3d sensor bar and the eye toy are from completely different planets, one(the Kinect) is a 3d scanner to a degree and the other (eye toy) is a glorified web cam to say the least.

I honestly can't believe that some of you guys are complaining...
Do you not even know what this means??? With a gpu as powerful as a 4870 in a console under heavy optimization, this thing could produce more impressive visuals than most of our gaming setups can.

And at this point, it doesn't really matter what Microsoft and Sony release in terms of hardware, because even if it is more powerful, it won't be by much.

What this means is the Wii U will still get the cross platform games of next generation ie Call of duty, Bioshock, Battlefield, etc...

And for all of you who keep saying, "OMG WHY IS IT NOTZ DX11ZZZZ!?!?!?", why don't you listen to the multitude of people explaining that it doesn't run Direct x, but Open GL.

It has tessellation capabilities, and can most likely replicate any and everything dx11 has. So everyone rejoice! Today is a good day!

Exactly. OpenGL FTW! They don't give a phock about Micro&soft-one DXxxx.

Well if the PS3 and 360 with GPUs based on the Nvidia 7900GTX and Radeon X1900 get developers to produce games with graphics at their current level, I can only imagine how high the console glass ceiling will be raised if they are based on the 4870!

Publicly. I read that most likely AMD retains code names for their GPUs privately. Whatever the case, it's pretty irrelevant.

Considering nintendo always puts the oldest, crappiest, and cheapest hardware possible in their consoles and handhelds(post-gamecube), The next xbox and playstation oughtta be friggin beasts.

Does anyone else think this bodes poorly for PC gaming? I mean the bird demo on Wii-U is fantastic, even by PC standards. As developers start to really optimize for it, I can't imagine there being much difference graphically between it and current gen 1080p PC gaming. And it even supports eyefinity...

PS4 and the next Xbox will probably take it another step forward. I wonder if investing in expensive PC hardware will even be worth it then.

This whole schema behind the graphic assumptions is because of the Wii. Although released in the same era of the consoles, it was equivalent to consoles a generation before.
No it wasn't... My original Xbox had much better graphics than a Wii. And they said they should be about equivalent... They LIED.

My original Xbox had GOOD looking HD graphics in MOST of my games. The Wii, has migraine inducing blurriness
