Well im not sure where your seeing these 970's at 4.4/5Ghz because thats rare the highest I see is about 4.4Ghz.

These is a difference between them besides the unlocked multi the 970 is basicly a bad binned 980X/990X so thats why the 990X should in most cases OC better.

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

The 990x just started getting made. Also, most 970s I see OC that high under water. They are just locked most of the time, which isn't a bad thing. I find OCing BLCK to be more fun, and more awarding.

Hmm your missing the point.....
Where are you seeing these 970's? Seems like they dont exsist...

I dont think you understand the whole unlocked thing you see I dont just change multi, but I adjust everything by its self for a better tuned OC rather then just upping the BCLK and letting the board do it for you. Its much more fun and rewarding when you do everything by its self

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

What on earth are you trying to prove? The topic is about a solid CPU for NV surround, not which intel chip clocks higher.

Was just saying I see 970s going as high. Right now the 990x is a waste cause 2011 is soon.

Im not tring to prove anything, just tring to help sort out a bit of misinformation. Dont want people getting the wrong idea when someone says the 970 is the same as a 990X ecept you just do BCLK OC instead of a OC with a unlocked Multi.

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

EDIT: also it was relavant to the OP because you will need a 990X Overclocked as high as possible to get the smallest Bottleneck you can, but a 970 will be close and would do the job but if you have the money the 990X will be even better.(basicly they both are good if you dont want to wait until 2011 socket, but you will proberly still get a bottleneck, it will be smallest with a 990X or a golden 970

Thanks, Sir Overkill.
