Haha, classic case of not paying attention, and yes, my vote is for the 5450.

Well its not going to be great at gaming... It scores a better WEI than the onboard you have.

What games are you wanting to run on it?

I'd rather not
Buy a small riser then. You won't damage the motherboard.

Man, maybe I should just cut the PCI-E slot... I already have an 8600gts just sitting here... which would work perfectly

Actually, I cant, heatsink pins and general stuff on the motherboard is right in the way of where the extra PCB would hang out the back.

Screw it, I'll just buy the ION

I hate to say it but it might actually be cheaper to buy a new mobo that has a x16 slot, you are paying like a $60 markup to get the same card in a x1 form, and that money isn't really going anywhere. If you got a new mobo you would have a better mobo and have better options for a more powerful GPU whose price tag doesn't include the lube.

I wont be using a computer in three months let alone gaming on one. I just need something to tide me over. I got the motherboard for free so I'm not complaining.

if you just need something to work temporarily and got the mobo for free notch out that x1 and get a normal x16 GPU and slap it in there, problem solved and you get to feel like a genius that didn't get shafted.
