I am Game Master Andaraal. I hope you're doing well. I am a human, and I want to offer some insight into the state of your account.
Right now, your account is locked - we locked it because an exploitive party logged into your account and used it to advertise for a gold-selling website. The account was accessed by an address that we've recognized as being malicious, and which has been responsible for similar compromises.
The instructions we sent two responses ago detail how you can get your account back - basically, it's tips on how to account for the most common methods of compromise, and then Step 4 tells you how you can go about getting your account back. Because your account was reactivated after a long period of inactivity, we need to verify your identity before we let you back in. Check that response for further instructions on how to do that.
As we have never had account information compromised on our end, and brute forcing is not actually possible due to safeguards in place, compromises tend to take place as the result of an information leak somewhere on the account owner's PC. I understand that being told there may be a security leak on your end is something that most tech-savvy folks would take offense to. We in no way seek to assign blame or shirk responsibility for your account's security - we just want to make sure you're taking the right steps to prevent this from happening again.
If you have any further questions about this situation we'll be happy to answer them for you. However, be aware that, if we have a pre-formatted response that we feel sufficiently answers your question, we may use that to respond to you. This is in order to ensure our responses remain consistent and to save time and assist as many players as we can. If you feel that such responses aren't properly addressing your concerns, though, let us know and we'll see if we can't address your situation a bit more personally.
Thanks for your patience in this situation, and don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything further we can clarify for you. Have a good one!
Me: Thank you for actually having a human answer me, but I assure you that I do not have a virus or keylogger on my computer, I run weekly scans with mal-ware bytes and my anti-virus alerts me if I ever download something even remotely suspicious. Plus, I play several other games and I have a steam account with over $700 in games on it, if someone did keylog me I assure you, my WoW account info, which I haven't entered since 2008, and I didn't even have this computer at the time, would not be first on the chopping block.
Again, they insult my intelligence and suggest that even though my computer is cleaner then a baby's butt after a baby wipe, my computer HAS to be infected.
I got a human response, but they're being a dick about it.
Edit: Saying I'm in denial about how they got my password, I'm not. I don't really care about my account, but I do care about being insulted. I haven't played WoW in 3 years and I haven't logged into it in that long.Edited by DaMirrorLink - 6/15/11 at 1:08am
