if its the first thing i mentioned it could be a good thing for sure ... only use the bare minimum required .... and if its the later amd allready will have that in bulldozer
ARM's discussion is about going more basic than even the cores. Powering down an FPU or APU if needed, while leaving one or the other open.

Instead of just turning off a core, they can still use that Core's APU (if needed) without having to deliver power to the FPU or other components as well.

It's a more robust breakdown of power management.

this should be interesting in the low power sector


its things like these that keep me interested in cpu's and gpu's ... how to build the logic to make these complicated things work flawlessly for us

in short it says that the more they shrink the transistors the less available die space they have due to power leakage ... good read for sure
