The Beyer 660 and 770 seem similar, and the 770 has been said to be pretty good. How do they compare? Also, Is 80 ohms(770) Too much to drive without an amp?

Also, There are so many Ultrasone ones, I cannot chose(HFI-580,680,780, Pro 550,750, DJ1, DJ1Pro). I don't really know the differences. Researching is difficult when everything is based on opinion. Is there a place I can go to try them out? I live in centeral NJ.

Go for the ultrasone 780s, or the M50s if you can find them for cheap.
I can attest the the bass response of the M50s, and they are clear over other frequencies as well. The ultrasones should have a wider soundstage (The M50s are like two giant speakers squished up against your ears) and similar clarity.

I'm going to have to recommend the D2000's as well. Sounds like you need a good closed head phone, and those are definitely the ones to get.

Try to find somewhere you can go listen to them, take some of your favorite music to test out. Honestly based on your music choices alone they will be your best bet.
