Sandy Bridge? What is it?

Hi All,

Have heard this term used alot! What is Sandy Bridge? Is it just another CPU like the i7 or am I completely wrong??

Sandy Bridge is the architecture name given to the second generation Core i series of processors.

So yeah, basically a new series of i3's, i5's, and i7's.

EDIT: also note that they will only be compatible to 1155 and 2011 socket motherboards, so if the reason you are asking is for a build or an upgrade, keep that in mind.

People always talk about it because it's a new, fast, efficient cpu architecture that is great at OC'ing and is also quite cheap! that is why so many people recommend it.

they are the newer i3's, i5's, and i7's. People say sandy bridge so that others know which generation of chips they are talking about

No no, I'm happy, very happy with my Intel i7 940 running at 2.93 GHz just need to change the stock cooler on it...
