Origin doesnt even have to be running to play your games. Download the game, install it. close it and never open it again.

Thats pretty painless.

Origin is free, steam is free so as long as the game is the same price what the crap does it matter?

I find it hard to believe that this is an issue for people...seriously?

Will Valve send you a nifty t-shirt if you boycott BF3 cause it changed vendors? I must have missed that memo.
I guess you can log into Steam, then Origin, the GFWL, then Rockstar Social, then Bioware social, then Blizzard social, then Facebook, twitter, myspace, youtube, blah.

Finally you can play the game.

Social networking bites.

or dont log into origin at all.

The games dont require origin to be running to play.

Its amazing how people complain, and they have no clue how things work.

It depends upon the game. According to the EA boards, some games require Origin for authentication in order to play.

Download limitations
Users were given one year from the time of purchase to download a game, but this limitation does not exist anymore. There currently is no time limitation for redownloading games through the platform.[6] However, according to EA's terms of service[7], an account may be canceled after 24 months of non-use.

I know of a few people who doesn't like Steam simply because it HAS to be run to play multiplayer.

In my ideal world all the publishers would go together and make one client. And to the people screaming "MONOPOLY!", why do you expect EA games to be sold by anyone other than EA?

@Influenza
The "1 year" is still in the TOS though.
