[Exophase] EA Pulls Crysis 2 from Steam Store, Now ‘Only On Origin' - Page 3

I don't mind. I preordered BF3 for $46 and Crysis 2 was thrown in for free, on Origin. Can't complain at this price. Got Duke Nukem for $38.

Still doesn't negate the fact that Steam is the largest digital distribution program of games, and that every game not released on Steam has the potential of hurting sales.

The majority of the profits still go to EA if someone buys a game through Steam, it just may be a buck or two short of what they normally get. But guess what? It's still a sale.

Also, Crysis 2 would have sold better PC sales if they didn't make the PC version crap.

The loud minority which will not buy their games for being Origin exclusive will be far outweighed by the benefits. This is with Crysis 2 in mind. They have to be very careful which games they label as exclusive.

EA has a history of not patching their PC games properly. That is why I had to stop buying EA games until they were released on Steam. Of course, all big releases seem to run like crap these days, even on Steam, so the outdoors might be calling...

do you think you will see half life 3 on origin
post #28 of 606
You can buy Portal 1, 2 and the Orange box on EA's Orgin website now, so it will be interesting to see if Valve pulls it from them. Although in the Orgin program itself if, you have it installed, those games do not show up there.

lol?

That was right out of left field.

In regards to BF3, I'm getting it anyways, leaning towards a physical copy now.

What a deal. How is that possible.

Oh, because EA owns the IP so they can price the games at any price point.

Personally, I've been going retail for all of my games this year, so this doesn't affect my buying habits, but this is good business. You would think the size of Steam would sell millions of copies, but they don't, so what's the benefit of splitting revenue with them.
