So even in the instance of my pure hatred for the publisher, i actually bought the game anyway.
Activision = EA in my book.

Both keep churning out the same cookie-cutter games over and over again.

I never bought an Activision game after the MW2 debacle. EA is next on my list to not purchase.

Looks like i will be buying a physical copy of BF 3.

I have not paid full price for even ONE of the 28 games on my steam.

I have most of my games on Steam but only for one reason, the sales, and I know they will quickly disappear if Steam really becomes a monopoly like it seems it will. Steam prices are horrible outside the US, when Bad Company 2 was discounted to $20, we in Europe had a tremendous 10€ drop, so the game was (and still is) sold at 40€ ($58). Games here are either sold the same amount of € as the game is sold in the US, (so a new $50 game is sold 50€, or $72), or sometimes even more. They also are discounted far later, and far less, and even when discounted are sometimes more expensive than the US launch price.

If you live in the Euro zone I think it's stupid to buy new games on Steam, just import them from play.com and only buy games on sale on Steam.

Yeah, cause I actually lost BF:2142 when EA did a refresh of their "EA Downloader." After the update my account was deleted, and customer service was of no help.

**** that, I'm not going to buy a game and be forced to use another program manage it.

It's like having a song that can only be played with a specific media player. I like having everything as organized and optimized as possible. ie: my friends and stats aggregated in one account/service.

Steam is the standard and I would highly prefer using that. I understand that EA probably wants to break free of steam, but I'm going to have to get the physical copy now, and add it was a third party game in steam.

Exactly. I remember this Christmas getting ALL the STALKER games for like 8 bucks. 130+ hours in single player gaming alone for 8 bucks...

sadly, you could do that even if you didnt buy them all on steam. Impulse, D2D, and other places offer awesome discounts on games also.

hell D2D offers $10 off all preorders for all their games. Steam only does that on a few.

I buy wherever i can get the best deal, and usually it is not steam. People who only buy on steam though, think all the sales they see are amazing, and cannot be found elsewhere. Sadly they are mistaken. Its like assuming that walmart always has the lowest prices(they dont).

Well you enjoy having 5 different programs that do the same thing. Building 5 different friends list / communities and opening 5 different programs to launch your games, most of which could be had through the Superior Steam method.

They are not hurting their sales in the least. They will still make a ton of money on their games like BF3 and enjoy their millions of dollars while I enjoy a great game. BF3 here I come.

The point people are trying to make is that steam has become a central distributor for well over 100 developers and multiple publishers. Many people have adapted to this and prefer steam because it's an all in one solution to cross updating, Instant messaging, voice, and chat. Steam is a direct competitor to XBL and PSN, while origin, is just well another digital distribution method for EA published games.

Unless EA adds in other publishers, I just don't see it taking off.
