they dont get that much money for each sale.

Steam probably takes 30% if not more.

BF3 is my most wanted game of this decade but I will not purchase it if I have to launch it through some other lame wannabe method and not have the ability to invite my pals to a match or hop online in between matches, so on and so forth.
So the platform program that launches the game somehow changes the actual game experience?

How is that even relevant? It doesn't have any of those. Come on, lets be real here.

I am gonna buy a retail version of the game through amazon.com regardless of what game launcher is needed. Would I prefer that it launched through steam? Yes. But I don't play games to use Steam, I use Steam to play games. If that game isn't on Steam so be it.

Oh I know steam started as valve only, but valve never had any direct competitors at launch.

The point I'm making is that steam has become the established gaming platform much like PSN or XBL with backed support for multiple publishers and devs. EA can compete with Valve, but not if they're only going to support EA published games. It's way too late for that.

i also wont get any origin exclusive games. i, however, never bought any of their eadm download games for that mattter. if you want to make a difference tell a friend and tell people on steam. word of mouth can be just as effective. you wont convince everyone but at least you will have more people talking about this stupid move. as for activision, they should just stick to consoles. why even bother.
