Quick to refuse purchasing games and expect devs to continue to pour money in the platform.

Even when a great game is made for PC, the whiners come out to play.
Although this is true for the most part, it is because of our higher expectations that the devs had created themselves. All the things we have been whining about (well, me at least) have been used many times in the past (e.g. dedicated servers, lan support, free patches/DLC, dedicated server files ect.). Of course I'm not defending the people who whine about every little problem but the majority of us have a reason for it, the developers have dropped their standards significantly on the PC as a platform.

As for the actual more, EA, I am disappoint. You are making life harder for us, and there is no way origin can compete with steam now. It simply is too big, it stocks games from pretty much every publisher and is pretty cheap. Unless you can beat it at its own game (which your not, you only have your games on origin) there is no way in hell it'll ever be successful.
I am also trying to figure out what makes him think that it will only be 1%? If there are so many unhappy users on this forum alone, and if you check steam forums there are every more unhappy users, i bet you anything there are even MORE unhappy users across the world talking about it on gaming forums, hardware forums ect. If lets say even HALF of steam users don't buy the game because its not on steam, that is more then 1%, that is close to 25-30% of lost sales. You add that up to many more people out there, and i guarantee you, that's a LOT more then 1% of lost sales on EA's part.

The problem is that once something is annoucned, the user base starts to fracture.
It's not on Steam, it doesn't have DX11, hate DLC, console port, and the list goes on.

Console gamers stay pumped up to launch and buy the heck out of the game.
PC gamers find excuses not to buy games up to launch.

We can't support PC gaming by threatening to do XYZ every game launch.

Here's the thought process of a lot of PC gamers:
Quote:
This game is going to be awesome!
A must buy day one!

...a few rumors circulate through the community

I hope not, that will suck.
Oh no, I may have to reconsider
Well if they do that I'm not buying

.....developer may announce changes or not

Well, I wait until it comes out for reviews, if it's good then I'll buy no doubt.

.....game releases

I'll wait until the price drops.

.....actually waits until a sale somewhere and buys the game more than 50% off MRSP.
Way to support PC gaming guys.

It's annoying but I will probably just pick up a hard copy. When when companies realise, they cannot compete with steam when they are just selling their own games, like the M$ one, cannot even remember the name of that.

If you want to compete with steam, get a massive collection of games from different publishers and compete on PRICE.
Even if you buy a physical copy the chances are very high that you will be forced to create/add it to an EA Origin account in order to play it.

Massive thumbs down from me, Valve got there first and all my games are neatly on their service now, easily portable and a simple one stop shop for all my gaming needs. These days I am extremely unlikely to get a game that isn't on Steam.

I'm so gonna keep "not buying" EA games

havn't bought their games since command and conquer generals. (and i think thats all i've ever bought from them )

I'm sure they've added crysis 2 to their new store just to get some sales. I mean, its a new store. they do need some customers.

I'll just not buy it :b

best? it is debatable still. Im a huge BF fan, but like I said not installing bloatware just for 1 game. Rather wait and check physical copy before buying or not at all. Either way I don't lose anything.
