So wait, another game client?
I hate launching 10,000 game clients just so I can play a variety of games throughout the day.

That's not how a good consumer experience is like.

You dont even need it running at the minute to launch any of the games purchased through it.
Infact Ive added all the origin purchased games to my steam library and dont even have to start origin up at all.

"And I'm here at the EA booth where they are announcing their own console!"
(EA tw@)
"YEAH!!! so we're bringing this console onto the market so EA games can be played the way their meant to be played! EA will no longer sell xbox, play station or PC games anymore and we make more money ... (whispers) oh wait I wasn't meant to say that part"

(Agent 47)

Dont think so but give me a min and I'll check.

Scrap that, yeah the steam overlay does work with the games added from origin to steam and Origin definitely doesn't need to be running even installed for the games to launch once you have them. Thats up to now though.

I seriously don't understand all the hate...
what do you use Steam FOR in the first place?

how's it different with Origin?!

what's more to 1 extra exe to run on your computer?!? does that use THAT much memory and processing power from your overclocked 4+GHz core i7?!?

oh you just want to play it through the steam community system with your existing friends? look above, as it's clearly possible to do so, as steam allows non-steam games to be started up

seriously people... you're just taking things wayyyy over the top...

I think people are missing the elephant in the room.

I know why EA is pulling out of steam, the answer is microsoft. You do all know that in windows 8 they are going to have a built in "games for windows live" store (much like steam, but MS version)

Microsoft has seen the light.. or rather the green glow... they are going to push purchases through their own stores because they want a cut of the profits.

Imagine Steam, but built by microsoft- selling programs and applications "and mini apps" and tying into cellphone apps and purchases and then finally digital wallet functionality.

This will happen, you are witnessing the first signs of things to come.

Just some things to chew on.. and how microsoft will be taking over the world.

Microsoft Cell Phone Mobile Wallet
Microsoft Banking
Microsoft OS
Microsoft Windows Phone OS
Microsoft App Store
Microsoft Games for Windows Live "Market"

Things MS is aiming to kill:
Steam
Credit card processors
Banks? OMG what if MS could just control the banking system... $$$

BTW this was my post #911
