[Exophase] EA Pulls Crysis 2 from Steam Store, Now ‘Only On Origin' - Page 35

This is one of the many things about Origin that sucks

http://support.ea.com/app/answers/de...-error-message

Quote:
"Every time the download button is clicked, a download count will be added to your lifetime total. If you have installed your game via Origin on more than three computers within a ten day period, you will need to wait until the first installation expires.

Note: Re-installing your operating system, or interrupting a current download, will count as a new computer installation."
The way I read that-
If you interrupt a download it counts towards your 10 day limit of 3. For big games - and all new games are big in terms of download size you better not interrupt the download......

You don't know what you have until someone takes it away from you.

You can just set it to keep the installation files and then use a flash drive to make it easier to install on different machines.
At the minute its just a glorified download manager. Plus it doesn't count interrupted downloads, it states installs not attempted downloads.

besides im talking crysis warhead ... not crysis 2 (which im annoyyed doesnt run in DX11 yet) ... dw though i went through a very painful and annoying process of emailing them about it and the gave me a few more installs (which admittedly is good of them) although they made a patch for this exact problem... i can tell you now it doesn't work... honestly makes pirating games so you dont have to bother with any of this crap look very appealing

I guess I wouldn't mind EA's program if I thought they could make a half way decent one that allowed me to converse with people and set up games with friends. It's hard to have faith in anything that EA does for online games when the communication between friends on games like Crysis 2 and Dead Space 2 is so piss poor.

You KNOW your game isn't polished when people have to communicate via steam while inside a non-steamworks game. I bet the PMs and communication on EA's program is about as craptastic as BNet when Starcraft 2 came out.

So many cry babies an Valve fanboys in this thread are gonna miss out on possibly the best FPS ever! Sad sad sad people if you ask me. I have about 100 games on STEAM, using it since the beginning. Shutting down STEAM to launch Origin to play BF3 is not a big deal. And if it is to you. WTH are you doing playing games on a PC anyway?

this is another good thing about steam runs in the background, quietly downloading things you need

tbh steam is like a well oiled machine and EA have decided they want to not rely on another machine so they've quickly thrown together a rust bucket and state it is the new flying scotsman ¬_¬ EA (N)

what do you use Steam FOR in the first place?

how's it different with Origin?!

what's more to 1 extra exe to run on your computer?!? does that use THAT much memory and processing power from your overclocked 4+GHz core i7?!?

oh you just want to play it through the steam community system with your existing friends? look above, as it's clearly possible to do so, as steam allows non-steam games to be started up

seriously people... you're just taking things wayyyy over the top...
My i7 can't do 4GHz in this crappy weather.
Neither can it do 4GHz in cool weather.
Long story short, it can't do anything right.

Nevermind, about STEAM.
It's more than just a game client.
You use it as a chat platform when you're sick of using MSN.

EA would never not sell an X360 game or a PS3 game at Gamestop. Why do it online? (rhetorical question)
