[Exophase] EA Pulls Crysis 2 from Steam Store, Now ‘Only On Origin' - Page 48

Not everybody has badass connection to download a 10 gig game, that would take me hours.

I could drive to the store quicker before the download would be finished. Others might like this digital distribution, I'd rather drive to get it in half the time it takes to download, "with my connection, refuse pay arm n leg for anything higher than a 12mbps connection".

If it takes any type of client to run the game, well then, this blows.

I am not fully clear as to if any client is needed to run bf3.

Wants
Install>Launch BF3>Play.

Do Not want.
1.Install any type of client>create account>Login>Install Game>Play game.
2.Launch client>Login>Client launches game>Finally I can play.
Thats funny...in your "Do Not Want" you just explained what Steam is also. Only difference is, is that you already have it installed. But you did have to do your "do not want" option at one point. Besides, if you already have an EA account (if you played BC2 MP, Crysis 2 MP, etc) you do not need another login to remember.

EDIT: I love Steam also (have 60+ games on it), but could really care less if I have to use Orgin to play BF3 or ME3.

I do believe they've had 1+ GB patches before too.
Yea buying, playing, and updating BF2 was what pushed me to buy all my games from Steam from then on out. The updating was ridiculous.

Login > Play may take one more step then > Play but it's worth it to have the auto updating, not worrying about losing the serial, and not losing the disk.

Well I use Steam, Direct2Drive and what was EA's old download manager. Now changed to Origin and to be honest the reason I use all three is like most. I purchase my games from were ever is the cheapest.

I purchased Crysis 2 over two months ago from EA at half the cost it would of cost me on steam. But other games I have got from steam or D2D cheaper.

So I will continue to use the three digital download sites above.

I'm the opposite. I'll pay more for a game just to have them all in one place. It's just one of those things.

PoopaScoopa cleared it up for me, I was not sure if the ea or dice client was needed & created an account to install - play the bf3. Was not including steam, just clients in general. I do not recall having an account with ea or dice.

I believe Orgin will have auto updating also and the games are tied to your login anyways just like Steam. You should only need your login and not have to worry about your keys or disks either.

BC2 has an auto-updater built into it. When you launch the game it checks for updates. I'm assuming BF3 will continue with this so there's no need for EADM/Origins/Steam to do it for you. 2142 had the updates available in EADM right under your game as did Crysis. BF2 came out before EADM even existed.
