you tell me which scenario makes more money:
BF3 on Origin-D2D-Amazon-Gamestop
BF3 on Origin-D2D-Amazon-Gamestop-Steam

regardless of whether or not they offer the DLC on steam they still make more money. the smart play would be to only sell BF3 on steam and then after release sell both BF3 and the Karkand expansion separately on and then rake in the money

edit:
read my second post, im saying it would be profitable for all companies not just steam if they could sell the DLC, and customers get what they want. i'm no steam "fanboi" so hop off
I still see all these Steam users who LOVE DICE and the BATTLEFIELD franchise who are all saying "If its not on Steam, I am not going to buy it" going to the store and buying it retail. Or D2D... or even *gasp* from Origin. Because they will want to play a killer game. If they choose not to buy it only because it is NOT sold through Steam...
then they are the epitome of fanboy or idiot.
If I offend anyone, I am sorry. But that is how it is.
If you are going to pass up on a game you know is going to be good... and saying how its going to be so awesome... just because you can't buy it on Steam... then you have no one but yourself to blame for more bad Console ports. Because you are showing developers that PC gaming is not where its at... its PC gaming on STEAM. And that is just counter productive.

Admit what? That Crytek/EA broke one of Steam's rules? I want to know what the rule is. Considering that Steam's publishing rules have not been changed in at least 6 months, I'm REALLY curious what it might be.

Ah, American McGee,
their games really aren't my cup of tea.
I don't like my childhood shrouded in gothic lore,
Ultra seedy renditions are really a bore.
One thing I particularly abhor...
is the fact that BF3 will likely not be a whore.
It will be tied down and monogamous,
Requiring the installation of Origin from all of us.
We'll cry and moan and pledge not to buy,
but BF3 will make us lie.
We'll slink and slither into the store,
buying a copy, or possibly four.
We know it'll be fun, we know it'll be great.
But Origin software... we will hate.
I chose a poetic approach to get my point across,
because BF3 bundled with Origin will be our cross.
We'll bear it because we have to,
because in the end, EA owns you.

Then say welcmoe to $100 games on Steam because if everyone do like you do Valve will stop all the sales they have and will up the prices like crazy.
