Hey guys

I have this 4 year old card BFG 8800gts 512 with q6600 mildly OC at 3.0ghz with (1900 X 1200) resolution. Do you guys think upgrading it to MSI gtx 560 ti hawk may bottleneck my q6600?

We essentially have the same processor performance wise. You'll have a mild Bottleneck in cycle hungry dual core games, but, you'll dominate true quad core games and you'll obtain an incredible performance increase in absolutely everything regardless.

Go for it, you'll be jumping for joy when it arrives.

Only on a select few titles will you have issues with the Q6600. I'd say go for it. The 560 Ti is a solid card.

Upgrading to a gtx 560 card should give you a huge boost in the graphics performance department and the resolution you run will really show it. The Q6600 with that card should be good for pretty much any game. You can always upgrade the cpu/mobo/ram and keep the 560 down the road. If you are worried about it bottle necking you could always try to oc the cpu further.

(quick note: Its a good idea to add your system info to your profile to get the most accurate responses.)

Depending on your motherboard and VID, you could get 3.2-3.4, or even higher with that Q6600. Also your cooling will come into play.

So that's another thing to consider. Even the "crappier" Q6600's could do 3.2-3.4GHz easy enough with enough voltage.

I recently helped a friend overclock his Q6600 to 3.4 GHz as he upgraded to Crossfire 6950s and we didn't want any bottleneck. Sure, an i5 or i7 would yield better results, but the Q6600 was more than capable of running Bad Company 2 with decent frames.

Q6600 at 3.0Ghz will only be a mild bottleneck, that cpu is still beastly for its age. Get it man, do it, 560Ti will be a nice upgrade!

When I had HT off my i7 950 @ 4.6 had a small bottleneck on BC2, he has a HUGE one.
