2600K or 980x - Page 4

I say if you want the best price/performance ratio go for the 2600k and an SSD is optional.
Then later on you can sell the 2600k and go for the new 980x which is the ivy bridge.

I know only two cases which need 980x:

1. you try to get the best overclock performance
2. You are in a worldwide chess engine competition

Other than that, 2600k is much more effective with its much cheaper price.

I'd have to say that to many new things are happening now, and if you want the best for what you are doing, then just wait a bit and it will all clear up real fast! Be patient. That's what I'm doing! Good luck!

This

That way you wont have a hard time trying to sell your 2600k if you get it and want to upgrade, if you can hold out a little longer for the ivy and the LGA 2011 mobo then waiting is your best choice.

You can just use this article to help you in making right choice.
http://www.fcenter.ru/online.shtml?a...ocessors/30689
*
It is written in russian language, but anyway you can finds lot's of tests there.
*
If you are going single GPU - go 1155, multi-GPUs - 1366, cause even maximus iv extreme (top 1155 atm) gives x8x8

Personally if you have to do the upgrade on a shorter time frame, go the 2600k. If you can hold out, just wait for the upcoming socket 2011 ivy bridge processors. Should be better than the 9xx 1366 processors across the board.
