Steam, GFWL, and now "Origin" umm.....anyone else getting sick of this crap? I like steam, I like steams deals. Steam for most people works pretty well. I will be using steam. Screw EA.

Hey at least we all get another reason to hate EA and not buy their crap.

Except it's going to be just like Call of Duty. Everyone is going to flame all over the forums for months about it, but when BF3 comes out they'll all buy it still.

Yep it's sad people have no self control and don't vote with their wallets anymore. We have given all the power to the companies and have forgotten as the consumer we hold all the power.

Guess those million dollar marketing campaigns really work. Welcome to the new "gotta have it" generation.

I agree about these lousy people these days, I don't care how good BF3 will be. All I know is if origins esxcusive I buy the hard copy as I don't mind that. If that links me to origins I simply skip the game and don't buy it. People and they think I give a damn? hahaha I have plenty of awesome games to play as it is and don't need BF3 if it comes to that. I did it with Gears of War, I liked GoW...no PC version of 2 and 3? Looks like I will never play those...and I will not care either.cool.gif

The verdict is still out. EA knows they lose a lot of digital sales for every title they pull off of Steam. So, they are only starting with the big titles, the titles they assume will sell well either way. Although I hear they may just do an exclusive "collector's edition" type of thing for Origin and still sell the game on Steam. Who knows though.

They've most definitely already pulled Crysis 2 and nothing of importance was lost. Still, it is a distressing trend. I will never use Origin myself, I know its a little hypocritical but I am already used to Steam and have most of my games there. If everyone buys into EA's Origin then Activision will launch their own service which you must use for their games, Ubisoft, etc. We'll end up having to launch 5 or 6 different digital distribution clients just to access all your games, friends, patching and community features. To me that sounds like a little slice of hell.

That is just what EA hopes. I think in large part you are right, but you never know. The thread in the news section was VERY busy and lot of people were pretty pissed. They may end up losing a few more digital sales than they planned on, of course they are probably more than happy eating those sales if it means long term viability for their Origin service.

So EA is trying to reclaim it's hated status back from Activison, I'll play along and keep my hands off their games as well.. There are plenty of other good titles, and I don't even like FPS that much.

Wait so are you guys saying that I won't be able to import my Mass Effect 2 Shepard and import it into Mass Effect 3? Because I got both ME1 and 2 on Steam. NOOO!

When it comes to BF3, I was planning a Steam pre-order as soon as it becomes available. Now that looks unlikely, I may just skip the game entirely, or buy a hard copy at some later date. But I sure as hell won't be using EA's Origins service.

You can do that with any copy no matter where you get it. You just do it manually in the folder.
