No, because it works like this

DDR = X1
DDR2 = X2
DDR3 = X3

DDR3 1600MHz So 533.3mhz x 3 = 1600Mhz

Set your timing to 9-9-9-24-41 in your bios. Set both sticks to, "both" and then manually enter the dram timing into the TCL, tRCD, tRP, tRas, and tRC.

Use your CPU-Z as your reference for the XMP setting and don't forget to set your voltages to 1.650 and prepare to be blown away for running at 1600mhz.

1600MHz is an XMP profile and AMD don't use XMP profiles, Intel do.

AMD's stock setting for DDR III is 1333/6.66x,for AMD to have 1600MHz we (AMD uses) have to overclock (to a degree) by setting the RAM setting to what is stock for the RAM modules in question, which we have to do
manually in BIOS.

OP: This is very much true DDR (Double Data Rate) meaning that it has two points in which it can transport data. All DDR is calculated by multiplying the base clock speed by the RAM divider and then by 2.

When the name of the DDR I/II/III they are talking about generation (this is how I think of it) and for every generation the product gets quicker in RAW speed (MHz).

DDRI:

Make:--Class:-----DDR:------Base Rate:
DDR1 - PC2100 - 266Mhz - 133MHz
DDR1 - PC2700 - 333MHz - 166MHz
DDR1 - PC3200 - 400MHz - 200MHz
DDR1 - PC3500 - 433MHz - 216MHz
DDR1 - PC3700 - 466MHz - 233MHz
DDR1 - PC4000 - 500MHz - 250MHz
DDR1 - PC4200 - 533MHz - 266MHz
DDR1 - PC4400 - 550MHz - 275MHz
DDR1 - PC4500 - 566MHz - 283MHz
DDR1 - PC4800 - 600MHz - 300MHz
DDR1 - PC5000 - 625MHz - 313MHz

DDRII

Make:--Class:-------DDR:--------Base Rate:
DDR2 - PC2-4200 - 533MHz -- 266MHz
DDR2 - PC2-5400 - 667MHz -- 333MHz
DDR2 - PC2-6000 - 750MHz -- 375MHz
DDR2 - PC2-6400 - 800MHz -- 400MHz
DDR2 - PC2-8000 - 1000MHz - 500MHz
DDR2 - PC2-8800 - 1100MHz - 550MHz
DDR2 - PC2-9000 - 1120MHz - 560MHz

DDRIII
Make:--Class:--------DDR:--------Base Rate:
DDR3 - PC3-6400 -- 800MHz -- 400MHz
DDR3 - PC3-8500 -- 1066MHz - 533MHz
DDR3 - PC3-10666 - 1333MHz - 667MHz
DDR3 - PC3-12800 - 1600MHz - 800MHz
DDR3 - PC3-14400 - 1800MHz - 900MHz

My G Skill Ram Automatically sets tp 1600 at 9 9 9 27 timings (rated 7 8 7 24)
1.5V.

I used to have corsair XMS 3 and had so much trouble with it.

If I left settings all on Auto it would set 1333Mhz. at poor timings. I had to manually set my divider to 4:1 (so manually set your ram to 1600 in bios). You can either do it that way or you will have to up the Ref Clock to 240 so the ram runs at 1600mhz then downclock the multiplier so the cpu stays the same. It should run at stock timings on 1.65V.

If possible though, do what I did. RMA the ram, sell the new stuff on ebay and get yourself some G Skill. Check your mobo QVL and get a nice set of 1600 Mhz G SKills. (Btw I am only saying G skill becuause I am pretty biased lol).

My G Skills auto sets to 1600 (4:1) and currently I am running it at 1620, 6 8 6 24 30 1T at 1.65V. 10.80Gb/s maxxmem. with 3000Nb.

If you go down the ref clock route for OC'n your ram to 1600 then make sure you know how to set you NB and HT and all that before hand.
