Petition: Don't make BF3 an Origin Exclusive - Page 25

Just wondering, how many people have made a petition against Valve for not releasing their games for other download services? If people believe Valve has the right to release their game only on their own platform, why can't EA do that for their own games?

Also, I believe BF3 will at least be available retail. If not, how will places like Best Buy and Gamestop deal with the pre-orders they've already taken?

Exactly my point, EA is making a decision that will very likely hurt the developers and probably upset the fans base..hrmm.. Upset the fanbase*

All we know from this rumor is that EA supposedly said "Origin exclusive" and we don't know if DICE said 'hey wait' or if they said 'ok, whatever'.
They had whatever say they are contractually obligated to have. You're still talking nonsense. At best, rationalizing that there's some glimmer of hope that the devs are on your side, and they're fighting "the man". Companies don't work like that.

Indeed, welcome to the age of steamworks. Where platforms come with the game.

Yes, steam managed to shove as many features as it could into a digital content delivery system. I mean, it's a good thing I don't already have a messenger client, social networking, game servers, or any of that other nonsense elsewhere. Of course, there are systems I think do digital distribution better, but again, my opinion, as you are entitled to yours.

Because Origin is an application. Now we have to run two programs daily to play our games. In contrast to Direct2Drive and gog etc, they are obviously just website-based.

Origin uses about three times more RAM than Steam I've noticed too..

Valve is self owned, Dice is owned by EA and being forced to use Origin. Difference.

Oh, not a good thing...

I was planning on pre-ordering Old Republic on Steam when it comes out so that I could download it before and play immediately at Midnight.

I don't want to deal with the Origin service, so I'm probably going to end up going to gamestop at midnight and buying a retail copy and then taking an hour or two to install it, and then by 3 am I'll be up and playing.

I don't really care about Battlefield (have never been a fan of much FPS's anyway besides COD because I found it easier), I care more about Old Republic not being on Steam, I'm a huge MMO fan and that honestly discourages me from buying it..

Origin is new (relatively) and is imposing install/acitvation limits on top of already established DRM.
If the stance is hypocritical, it's not ok. I wanted to buy Fallout:NV today from D2D, well in order for me to play it, I have to download it from Steam. Ah, being forced to use their platform even though I bought it from somewhere else. Steam is established, but they shouldn't deserve a pass because of that.

Well BF3 is available everywhere else expect Steam. The Origin relationship possibly ruined their Steam relationship. Bad for everyone involved. This petition is about preventing EA from pulling BF3 from all download services and making it exclusive on Origin. Which we all know it's a possibility, but not the current reality.

I'm not going to sign because these things never work. Besides, I don't care all that much about BF3 anyways.
