I also don't have a problem with Origin existing (I have never once said that I do). But I do believe in a free market, in the sense that I can buy my game wherever I want to. And I will personally refuse to buy the game if I am forced with more DRM than necessary. That's why I personally love Steam so much. It's its own DRM service (just like Origin is, yes). But why would I need ANOTHER program running, for just this one game?

origin is not new. its EADM which has been upgraded and renamed. They have always sold PC games online, now they are simply taking it more seriously.

Also, even in a free market, you cant buy all products wherever you want.

I think most people are blowing smoke out their you know what. When BF3 comes out and it's awesome like we all know its going to be, all of these guys whining and promising not to buy will slink into their local Gamestop and get a copy. Some will even get Origin, you watch...

I would buy a collectors edition for $200 if they offered it. On topic, I rather not see this game being origin only.

That's what we do not want. Not entirely for sure yet though.

Then again, I don't really care for Steam or any of these online clients really. If I could, I would buy all of my games as physical discs and never run any online client to play them....
I heard the same thing about MW2 and Crysis 2. Guess what, neither was all that great. BF3 may be a great game. But if they force me to install more crap on my machine than I need to, I WILL NOT buy it, period. EA hasn't made very many games lately that I've really wanted that badly anyway. I can live without BF3, and go back to BFBC2 personally.

Exactly! We don't need multiple distribution clients just to get our games. It's great for competition, but don't force us with one specific one as a monopoly. The reason Steam is so great, is because its got everything a gamer could want. Until Origin can beat Steam, I will not install it, as its pointless bloatware at this point.

Actually, Origin isn't even a new name. They (EA) bought out Origin in 2004, and they are now killing a once great name with this bloatware. Origin was known in the 90's for some great games.

Exactly. This petition is a reminder to EA that if EA does not make their products available to other digital stores we will exercise our right as consumers in a free market to refuse to buy their products.

i want to run my games without having to install steam. hmm steam cant do that. I want steam to match prices of other online deals when i find them. Nope they dont do that. I want steam to stop losing its auth server when im in the middle of a game and causing it to not count and kick us out, nope cant do that either.

You might love steam, but it is nothing but a tool to me, and an annoying tool alot of the time.

Origin already has steam beat, its called battlefield 3. Origin has it, steam doesnt. I respect developers, not 3rd party distributors. I buy games in spite of their Steam requirement, and i buy games in spite of their gamespy(thats you borderlands) requirement. Ill do the same for origin.

Just as EA is exercising their rights to sell wherever they want their items sold.
Why should EA allow Valve, a direct games developer/publisher competitor, to sell their games and profit from it?
