What is the build for? A friend?

What purpose will it be used for?

Its a bit close to BD to invest in new top end AMD products.

its for my brother. actually the 1090t is only 150$ in my local store but im still thinking of getting him 965 or 955 but he wants a fast pc not for gaming only but for everyday use..

im only considering the i5 2500k which 179 at frys but right they are out of stock and they wont give raincheck for this one..

also im not sure how much will be the BD? any idea?

No real idea on pricing, but it should match up somewhere with SB.

Not for gaming? What qualifies as daily use?

If he's just a web browser and not a big gamer you'd be better off going with some lower end parts and getting an SSD. An SSD will give a bigger feeling of speed in remedial tasks than any processor on the market.

watching streaming online,FB but this mostly for gaming.. i guess he doesnt need a BD since he will use mostly this for gaming and BD might bottleneck the gpu(5850).. remember im also considering i5 2500k.. SSD is expensive, even i cant afford that..

hows the build anyway?

Gaming is fine with a x4 currently, a small SSD wouldn't set you back so far.

Switch the 1090T for a 955

190 - 115 + $10 gift card we'll use later

+$75 (enough for a smaller SSD but we'll aim for a $100 one)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-808-_-Product

The ram you picked is over-priced, the IMC on Phenom II is just slow. Fast ram is slow on AMD.

Some Muskins would do nicely here.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226114

was $85

now $35 /w MIR

Save $50

Total $125

OCZ Agility 3 60GB for $120 after MIR - $10 /w free shipping while using the gift card.

Saved yourself $15 while improving his overall PC experience with one of the fastest 60gb SSDs on the market

I would also consider a different PSU if upgradeability isn't a major concern, its way overkill.

Edit: You will need a aftermarket HSF if you plan to overclock

thanks for the overall explanation. well i told him about 955 or 965 but he wants newer cpu, and six cores.. i'll check on those ssd too.. i was looking for a realible psu but i want the antec or corsair. OCZ has cheaper psu but im nor really sure about their product. And the ram, i bought it from OCN member for a cheap price..

i'll be using CM hyper 212+ for this build..

Whats the extend plan for the build?

Is he looking to go CF later on?

Honestly in gaming the Thuban (two more Deneb cores its not really newer) isn't worth the money.

btw that board operates at x16, x4, so CF isn't really a great idea on it.

The cost of that chip and the board is $320...

You can get a i5-2500k and z68 x16 x8 (x8 x8 in CF) x4 PCIe board from Gigabyte for $328, assuming you weren't getting reduced pricing on either of those items.
