Need a second opinion on a laptop... Please

Thread Starter
I am looking at a laptop for college and I have a budget of $700 or less and I would appreciate overclock.net's opinion. I would like to use it for gaming as well as my school documents for my class i do need to run some VM's and cisco packet tracer. Also if you have any better ideas for a laptop let me know.

Requirements:
Must have a quad core processor (can be a dual with hyper threading)
Must have the equvilent to an ati 5730 or better
Minimum of 4Gb of RAM
Highest resolution screen possible

Anyone who helps me out will get +rep

Here are my picks:

I like 2011 Acer models quite a bit.... they are just plain reliable...

However for the price, why not go i7 Quad?

My vote is for the second Acer link in OP.

I would keep battery, portability and practicallity in mind though. I don't regret my acer 7741g purchase. But it is HUGE and only gets 3.5 hours at max power saving settings. I bought this for school, but i had also wanted it for gaming. I don't even game on very much at all and its mostly just used for Word now...

That acer looks like though.. and at a good size. I would avoid Lenovo but that's just me. I had bad experiences with my old lenovo and its only a year old.

The Lenovo Y560. Its a great computer, at a great price. My Y560 with an i7 will play most games at max spec 1366x768 (Crysis 2, COD series, Starcraft II, Portal 2, etc.).

Although for being a student the battery life may not be up to par, as you might need to carry the charger. On power save mode, i'll get roughly 3 hours with light use.

Its probably one of your cheaper options for still meeting your requirements. That just means more money for tuition.

yes acer's are great desktop replacements I am not sure of that price range though because I have been out the laptop game for a while now but my previous one was an acer with 8600m gt notebookreview.com has great resources and info and people on their forums

that second acer one looks pretty decent but some have hd screens you may want that too but I am not sure of the price

What are your guy's opinion on this laptop I just found it.

Kinda like this one more.

I am caring less and less about gaming graphics and aiming more for battery life. So what is your opinion?

I go for that 2nd option, Acer w/ the GT 540M. Good value

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834215095 check this one out pretty close specs except the resolution on the screen is 1600x900

but if you are caring less and less about gaming and just battery life then get an ipad and a bluetooth keyboard and you'd be all set!
