I will NOT support EA with their new Orgin service, since I already have 60+ games on Steam, and I do not want a Steam copy called Origin.

What is the point for me of having almost all my games on Steam, getting it from Origin? I don't want ONE game just on that crap when all my friends and other stuff is on Steam

Seriously, how can EA shoot themselves more in the foot?
From what I have seen in the official BF3 thread, at least 1/3 of all posters want it on Steam!

I fart in your general direction EA.
I guess you won't be playing BF3 then. I'll be sure to let you know how awesome it is...

I will be playing it no matter what, but still I would really enjoy not having to link my BF3 to Origin.

Lol @ OP.

Just get it off Origin, then add it to steam as a non-steam game.

Easy solution, yet people still b***h and moan that they won't be able to BUY it off steam. Who gives a f**k how you buy it when you can add it to the steam library later.

Edit: To everyone that says steam offers other things other than the overlay....what is it? Auto-updating? Is it seriously that hard to go out an manually download a patch?

It's easier to invite and play with friends on your steam friends list. It's more than overlay. I don't give a rats ass about the overlay as I don't really use it either. Also, all my other games are on steam. I bought BC2 on steam when it was on sale even though I had the retail package version. So yes I own two copies. I like it organized all into one place.

Origin isn't bad. The exclusivity is silly, sure, but even more silly is that people who normally purchase from Steam would rather have a physical copy of BF3 than digital download because they fear "Origin". Origin is quick, the interface is slick, download servers are fast (just downloaded a BF2142 @ 4Mb/s), and best of all you don't have to run Origin in the background to play games, freeing memory up and allowing games to launch faster.

I know a lot of people like Steam for its community and social features, since I don't care about those things and only use Steam as a download server it really doesn't matter to me what digital store I get games from as long as it's fast, secure and works well. Edit - and prices of course, which in my mind more competition of digital stores just means more competition of prices.

This. I don't get why people hate Origin so much. Think of GTA IV. You still have to sign in to Windows Game Marketplace to play, and I've never heard someone rant about that. Chances are BF3 will work the exact same way.

I don't hate it at all, I just don't want to use the service since I already own so many games on steam, and I use the chat function a LOT when gaming and to reach some of my other friends that never are on other networks.

And there was many here on OCN that did not like the Windows crap, at least during the release I saw many.
But at least its not as crap as the thing they used in Dead Rising 2, I can't even save my game, because it says my profile is not valid -.-

EA has not said that bf3 is exclusive to Origin, only that article. Neither have they said it won't come out on steam. If they don't let you preorder bf3 on steam most likely they will release it on steam a week later, like they did with some of their other games like hot pursuit and i think shift 2.
