mATX sleeper build

Thread Starter
Good evening.

I'm looking to build a mATX sleeper in this hideous old case I have laying around. I want it to be a quad core and I am staying with Intel on this one.
So I have two options I think.

1) An Asus P8P67-M Pro with an i5 2500k
2) An Asus Maximus III Gene with an i5 750 or 760

Since the two options I presented are roughly the same in cost, is there any reason to go with the old M3G? I suppose I could also go Z68, but I don't know if there are any mATX overclocking boards out yet on that chipset.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'd wait another week or two, the Maximus IV GENE-Z (Z68 Chipset) is being released soon. The Maximus III GENE is only good if you were to buy a used i5 and save money. It's a great board (I had two) and it OC's very well. The onboard audio is nice too, so that's a benefit of getting that over the P8P67-M Pro... but like I said, the new one is almost here.

I'll be trying to update the group as much as I can throughout the weeks.

I love my i5 750 / GeneIII, but the 2500k / mPro is better no matter what way you cut it - go for it man!
...Of course if you can wait for the Gene IV you could have your cake and eat it too ^_^

OMG YES. Thank you so much for that. I did a quick search and I'm surprised I didn't see that. It's basically exactly what I am looking for. Might as well put me on the will be owners (Provided that it is not ridiculously expensive. )

It'll be more expensive than those two boards but shouldn't be too bad, there's been places saying around $200. Which is reasonable for what you get.

That's just fine with me.

Think a gpu like this will be sufficient for a second rig used partially for lans?
