Need a new headset - Page 2

Well that sound card is very nice, you wont suffer from lack of quality but maybe you still need an amp. And please dont buy the 702 unless you want to spend a few hundred dlls for a premium amp, these headphones are really nice, but very hard to drive!!

I guess so I even fail at this, so even harder! What do you recommend then? It doesn't have to be best of the best, bet there are some 150-200$ good headsets, but I am really bad at this...

I want them mostly for gaming, but music and movies too.. really important!

hey no problem, we all are learning from this place!
If you dont want to spend too much and get the best bang for buck, for gaming and music, get the audiotechnica ath-a700 (closed) for deep bass, or the ath-ad700 (open) for a little better soundstage but less bass.

Audio Technica AD 700 ($100) or Sennheiser hd555 ($95) plus Zalman clip-on mic ($10) will blow ANY gaming headset out of the water.

Good choice mate! You wont regret!!
Edit: you're right, most of the people buy headsets for the good looking, and thats exactly the last thing you should care when it comes to audio.

They have their limited uses. I still use the G35 here and there on my horrible static-y laptop.

9/10 on the megladons, would be 10 if they had of been cheaper
no response to this, ignore it thoroughly.

Agreed with this, I own the AD700's and they are a great piece of hardware. Probably the best bang for your buck headphone out there at that price range, you can generally pick them up for about 80 bux, and they don't need a sound card.
Great quality and sound stage at that price, they are amazing.

Good choice my friend...so glad when we can dissuade people from buying a razer or something like that and then don't know what they are missing.
Keep in mind that high quality headphones need a significant burn in time, so don't be dissuaded when you get them out of the box. Give them a chance!
